Workplace safety is the just as important as doing the job itself. A lot of the times, we are unaware of the surroundings and it can be crucial to our health. The air that we inhale on the job may be contaminated with hazardous elements that can have an adverse impact on the well-being and health of an individual. In extreme cases, inhale contaminated air can cause respiratory problems, weakening of lungs, nasal or throat infection as well. So it’s advisable and recommended that one should carry respirators while frequenting places where contamination of air is high and so is the risk of air-borne diseases affecting health of individuals. One must be wary of such a menace and always carry a protective gear. There are two types of respirators, one which is meant for purifying the contaminated air while the others are meant for supplied fresh air. In order to avoid noxious content from being inhaled, CSI has always advocated the use of respirators especially for those who work in mining camps or chemical factories. Though there has been a significant development in the designs of respirators and other breathing apparatus, it is of utmost importance that they all match to the standards set by various governing bodies.
